"It is unprofessional for any lawyer — and reprehensible when the lawyer is also the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada — to mislead the public about the state of Parliament’s laws," Attaran wrote.
How many law professors have the guts to do that? Not many. This is the kind of independent thinking and action that can only improve the reputation of the school. Hopefully, graduates will follow the example. (Attaran's example! Not Trudeau's, not MacKay's.)

Boring. Amir Attaran has a habit of making this type of accusation to quasi-judicial bodies all the time, with little to show for it in the end. He complained about a government lawyer involved in an Afghan detainee case being heard before a federal quasi-judicial body. He complained about Mackay's comments on pot. He complained about lawyers involved with the Mike Duffy affair. He complained to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal about lack of funding for in vitro fertilization on behalf of his partner, assessed as biologically too advanced in years to benefit from the procedure...
I fail to see how demonstrations of such continuous, ineffectual public whining can be portrayed as an example to emulate. Nor is it indicative of any high level of instestinal fortitude. Last time I checked the Law Society of Upper Canada's Directory, professor Attaran was listed as "Not Practicing Law - Employed". You want a law professor to show guts? Pull him out of his little ivory tower, put a toga on him and have him argue a case in open Court...
